Charity Collections & Events – now collecting Children’s shoes

Afrikaya Children’s Shoes Collection Summer 2019

We are collecting primary aged children’s shoes and sandals (not wellies or slippers thank you) for Afrikaya – find out more about this project at: www.afrikaya.co.uk

Afrikaya is a charity that is the sole supporter of a nursery school in The Gambia. The charity put out a plea for children’s shoes as the ground the children play on is often dangerous and the children can receive cuts and grazes, left untreated they can lead to further complications.

We were keen to help and with the support of family, friends, and customers spreading the word, we were able to supply 650 pairs of shoes for the pupils and their older siblings in 2018 and we want to do even better this year! It was a great joy to receive photographs of the children choosing their shoes. By December 2018 they had given out all but 20 pairs!

Smalls for All – ‘gently worn bra’ & NEW pants collection October 2018 – January 2019

Smalls for All provide the very basic, yet vital, supply of underwear to women and children in Sierra Leone, Kenya, Malawi and Madagascar working to help these women achieve access to a better quality of life. Please visit www.smallsforall.org for more information.

Last year we collected 695 bras and 472 pairs of pants and we smashed it this year collecting an amazing 2,833 bras & 1,736 pairs of pants!

As well as our own collection point we have Piha in Bradford on Avon, the RUH in Bath and ‘This n’That’ shop in Moorland Road, Bath collecting for us as well as friends and family!

The 1st Bradford on Avon Guides have been very pro-active in supporting this cause, creating a ‘pant’s tree as part of the Holy Trinity Christmas Tree display promoting the charity and have collected a huge bag of pants themselves! We invited them in for a talk on interior design and how a business works in December, we all had great fun and we hope they learnt a bit about career opportunities too.

Thank you to everyone who supported us in this ‘pantastic’ achievement!

Macmillian Coffee Morning September 2018

A big thank you to all of those who joined us on Friday 28th September for coffee, tea and cake.

We have all been affected by cancer in some way and we wanted to show our support by joining Macmillan’s coffee morning.

We raised an impressive £120.
